Pirates Of The Caribbean 5 Gets Official Synopsis

Find out what lies in store for Dead Men Tell No Tales.

A few days late like these things always seem to be, Disney have announced the start of production on Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. The most interesting part of their press release is the official plot blurb:
"In the new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil€™s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea€including him. Captain Jack€™s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas."
There's no space there for Carina Smyth, which is who I believe Kaya Scodalerio is playing; or Henry Maddox, better known as lucky, the young soldier being played by Brenton Thwaites. Elsewhere in the release, Disney say that Golshifteh Farahani has joined the cast too, but not who she'll be playing. There are two possible roles: a love interest for Lucky, and a witch called Melia with a secret agenda. I'd think it more likely that she's the witch. This film has been a lot longer coming than Disney intended, and there's still a long way to go until july 7th, 2017 and the US release date. That will be six years after the fourth instalment, though I doubt the hiatus will do too much damage to the box office.
