Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Delayed Until 2016

Pirates of the Caribbean Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has had its planned release date pushed back by a year, according to reports. The Johnny Depp-centric swashbuckling film was originally due for release on July 10, 2015, though Walt Disney Pictures have since hinted the adventure flick won't meet its planned schedules and the film would need to be delayed. Though nothing has been confirmed, studio sources say a 2016 release is now more likely. The long-running series is a decade old this year after the first in the franchise, The Curse of the Black Pearl, released way back in 2003. Since then, Pirates of the Caribbean has, in every film so far, featured Depp in the central role of Captain Jack Sparrow. The most recent adventure, On Stranger Tides, also featured Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane and Sam Claflin, while Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley have starred in the past. On Stranger Tides was released in 2011, and broke several box office records, and currently stands as the 12th highest-grossing film of all time worldwide. It would seem then that there's certainly enough scope for a fifth film in the series, though fans will likely have to wait a little while longer before seeing Jonny Depp don that red bandana of his.
