Predicting 20 Highest Grossing Movies Of 2018

19. Rampage ($450 Million)

Dwayne Johnson Rampage
Warner Bros.

Release Date: April 13

It's never wise to bet against The Rock, especially with him being fresh off the stonking $944 million success of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (albeit a movie with the advantage of a popular ensemble cast).

Rampage is likely to be a success more in line with Johnson and director Brad Peyton's prior collaboration San Andreas ($474 million), and though it initially seemed like Avengers: Infinity War would steamroll its box office prospects, Warner Bros. smartly moved Rampage forward a week, which should help it immensely.

It's The Rock in a dumb, CGI-slathered blockbuster, and more often than not, audiences tend to enjoy that. Reviews won't matter, and because most casual cinemagoers aren't even aware it's adapted from a classic video game, it doesn't bring the usual toxic video game movie stigma with it.
