Predicting 2014's 10 Biggest Box Office Movies

2013 was the biggest year ever at the box office, and 2014's slate of summer movies will look to raise the bar even higher.

There has already been a significant amount of buzz generated around the summer of 2015 as possibly the biggest ever at the movies (even after the delay of Batman vs Superman), but let's not forget that we've got to get through 2014 first. This year, as has become the norm recently, blockbuster season starts the first weekend of April and saturates the market throughout the summer months before several more huge releases invade theaters towards the end of the year. 2013 was the biggest year ever at the box office, and 2014's slate of summer movies will look to raise the bar even higher. This year, like most others, the prime release dates are filled with sequels, remakes, reboots and re-imaginings, although there are also several promising original projects on the horizon (Transcendence, Jupiter Ascending and The Interview to name but three). However, it's almost a foregone conclusion that the year's biggest earners will mostly come from established franchises, such is the power of brand recognition in modern Hollywood. With that in mind, this article will make a bold attempt to predict the ten biggest hits of 2014, along with a rough estimate of how much money each movie will make. Of course, predictions are made to be proven horribly wrong so remember to check back in 2015 to see how I did! Do you agree with the article? Are there any movies not listed here that you think will be among 2014's top earners? As always sound off in the comments below.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
