2019 is sure to be one hell of a banner year for beloved movie franchises, what with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Fox's X-Men and the Star Wars franchise all delivering the climactic entries into their current iterations.

That's to say nothing of nervously anticipated, long-gestating sequels, tantalising reboots of iconic screen characters and everything in-between. With the sheer number of buzzed-about tentpoles landing in 2019, fans are already busy speculating about the ever-important spoilers, and specifically how each movie may end.

Who will die? Who will live? What shock plot twists could blindside us all? And of course, how will it all set up the inevitable next movie in each respective franchise?

From a combination of speculation, rumour and intuition, there are the possible, perhaps even probable, outcomes for 2019's biggest movies to date...

11. Paging Carol Danvers - Captain Marvel

With Captain Marvel's origin story being primarily set in 1995, it's fair to say that the overwhelming majority of its run-time will have absolutely nothing to do with the events of Avengers: Infinity War.

However, it's of course extremely significant that a disintegrating Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) sent out a pager distress call to Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) in Infinity War's post-credits scene, and with Captain Marvel being the only remaining MCU film ahead of Avengers 4, it's pretty likely the movie will end with her receiving that call.

It's safe to assume that Carol wasn't on Earth when Thanos (Josh Brolin) performed the snap, and accepting that she probably survived the event, she may be exiled or in stasis somewhere out in space for reasons unknown.

Captain Marvel's post-credits scene will surely see Carol either woken from some sort of stasis or otherwise commanded to Earth, providing a neat and exciting lead-in to Avengers 4.
