Estimated Box Office Gross: $1.1 billion Despite the fact that it was a pretty terrible movie, Disney's live-action Alice In Wonderland flick - as directed by Tim Burton - went onto become one of the highest-grossing movies of all-time. Audiences didn't care about the terrible script, shoddy CGI effects and lackluster narrative - they just wanted to see Johnny Depp in a crazy hat. Hey, whatever works. Of course, the monumental success of Alice In Wonderland has resulted in Alice Through The Looking Glass, a sequel that has been designed to bring Disney a further billion - you know, just 'cause it can. As if having both Marvel and Star Wars wasn't enough, huh? You know that the intention here is to simply reprise the beats of the first flick, utilising as much of Johnny Depp's camera mugging skills to pull in the audiences. It'll work: whether or not you care for Alice or Wonderland, Alice Through the Looking Glass will almost certainly squash its predecessor at the box office by way of just existing. So many people who saw the first film - families, mostly - will feel obliged to see this one, and Disney know that.
