4. The Counselor
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLWm5kRWrWM Ridley Scott looks to finally win a Best Director Oscar with this adaption of legendary author Cormac McCarthy's first screenplay. Scott has always been as good as his scripts and with a potentially iconic one for the Counselor, as well as a loaded cast including Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender, Javier Bardem, and Penelope Cruz, he has a chance to make one of his most intriguing films yet. The plot, while still a little bit of an unknown, supposedly deals with a lawyer who becomes involved in drug trafficking which leads to less than optimal results, something that sounds like its right in McCarthy's comfort zone. Unless something unexpected happens, the combination of one of modern cinema's most respected directors, an incredible cast, and a screenplay from one of America's greatest writers should equal one of the best films of 2013.

I love movies, literature, history, music and the NBA. I love all things nerdy including but not limited to Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, and Firefly. My artistic idols are Dylan, Dostoevsky, and Malick and my goal in life is to become like Bernard Black from Black Books. When I die, I hope to turn into the space baby from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
