Guardians Of The Galaxy is, in many ways, the black sheep of the Marvel family - but in the good sense.

In terms of both its content and its feel, it was separate from the rest of its cinematic universe relatives, and its post-credits scene - a highly irreverent, offbeat, completely throwaway gag - displayed this perfectly.

So, logic dictates that the sequel will follow suit, right? After all, director James Gunn has been very vocal about the fact that neither Thanos, nor the Infinity Stones, will feature in his movie at all, in a similar manner to the first film, which was tied to the Avengers by an incredibly thin thread.

However... Vol. 2 is the last time we'll see the Guardians before they appear in Avengers: Infinity War in 2018 (they're strongly rumoured to appear, but not officially confirmed). The latter film has enough work to do already, with uniting every major hero and setting up the war, without showing us how the Guardians arrive on Earth on top of that.

So, Vol. 2's post-credits scene will lift some of the baggage in this area.

The Prediction: Throughout the course of the movie, Gamora learns that her father, Thanos, is heading to Earth to pick a fight (she's informed by Nebula. Gunn has said that Thanos won't appear, not that he won't be mentioned).

And Quill, after encountering his father, begins to realise how much he misses Earth, and home. Once he learns that the planet is in danger, he sets a course there, and the scene ends exactly how the first movie did; with the Milano blasting off into flight.
