Predicted Critical Consensus: "A solid return to form for the series, Cars 3 brings unexpectedly ambitious grit and gravitas to the franchise with enjoyable, visually dazzling results."

Few are expecting much here, but after the calamity that was Cars 2, it'll nevertheless feel like a return to the quality of the first movie, and while it won't be as dark as the trailers suggest, it's still going to bring more to the table for adults than the first two films did.

It won't end up on the higher end of Pixar's output and there won't be many people talking about it at year's end, but it'll be a solid animated effort all the same, and for the Cars franchise, that's just fine.
