Quiz: Do You Remember This Oscar Best Picture-Winning Movie By Its Quote?

Memorable lines from movies that took home the gold.

Oscars 1996 Nicolas Cage
Universal Pictures/Weinstein Company

As the 91st Academy Awards loom closer, it is a perfect time to reflect on the films of the past that took home Oscars' biggest prize. Many of the movies were transcendent, classic films that at once represented their moment in time but remain beloved by audiences today. Others were sterile or saccharine grabs for awards season attention, devoid of any lasting value.

The scope of the Oscar winners ranges from small, intimate dramas to grandiose biopics, from action adventure films to heart-pounding thrillers. But regardless of genre, a key element of each film is its script and dialogue between its characters. Some of these lines have even permeated into the culture in ways that expand beyond the reaches of the film. Everyone knows the line about eating liver with fava beans and chianti, even if they had not seen the 1991 Best Picture Winner The Silence Of The Lambs.

Not all lines have reached the zeniths of Anthony Hopkins' creepy monologue about cannibalism and fine wine. But many are still important, whether they're beautifully rendered prose by the writer, dramatic deliveries perfectly spoken by the actors, or just a few short words that succinctly encapsulate the spirit of the film. Some are memorable and great. Others flew under the radar. Others can be eye-roll-inducing and make us question what the Academy voters were doing that year. Can you figure out the Best Picture Winner that had these lines of dialogue?

Answers at the end!
