Ranking All 22 Major Summer 2016 Blockbusters From Worst To Best
20. Alice Through The Looking Glass
Alice In Wonderland was a stunning financial success for Disney, and you have to think they should have let it be at that point. Inevitably, though, the billion dollar haul made a sequel inevitable, though Tim Burton mercifully decided not to return.
The first was criticised for Burton's self-serving, distracting imagination and Johnny Depp's merciless scenery chewing, so you'll all have been delighted when both were turned up to 11 for the sequel. It's like an acid trip, though the majority of the cast seem curiously bored by it all, and the sense of detachment is tangibly distasteful.
Through The Looking Glass remarkably manages to make its predecessor look restrained by comparison, and makes retrospective viewing of it far less painful. But that's absolutely nothing to be proud of.
