Ranking All Of Sean Bean's Movie Deaths From Lamest To Best

13. Equilibrium - Shot In The Head Through A Book

Equilibrium gets a lot of stick but it does have an awesome premise and is filled with shameless Matrix-influenced fight scenes.

In it, Christian Bale and Sean Bean are dystopian police officers who are tasked with hunting down anybody who is guilty of feeling any sort of emotion (in the story they're called 'sense offenders' which is a little too goofy). When Partridge (Bean) steals a book of poems and begins to read it, Christian Bale'sPreston challenges him which results in a Wild West-style quick draw stand off between the two officers.

Although this death lacks gore, it certainly makes up for it in drama. Partridge gets to experience emotion and truth for a few moments before Preston fires a shot at his head which penetrates the book and sends pages and brains everywhere.

The tension built through the music as the two reach for their guns is masterfully done and the way the room falls silent after Preston takes his shot is chilling.
