Ranking All The Jokers: From Worst To Best
7. Zach Galifianakis - The LEGO: Batman Movie (2017)
He might not quite have the immediate visual impact of some of his more colourful real life counterparts, but the LEGO version of Batman's greatest nemesis (or so he'd like to think), is a great new addition to the canon.
Played with surprising subtlety by Zach Galifianakis, the Joker here is a chaotic malcontent, not so much interested in being the Clown Prince Of Crime as being BATMAN's Clown Prince Of Crime. Or the Clown Prince Of His Heart, more aptly.
The characterisation riffs on the dynamic between the two characters, playing with the idea that one cannot exist without the other and also hilariously side-swiping at shippers who have cast them as lovers. And there's also some commentary in there on how useless the rogue's gallery are in general, and why Joker would ever align himself with them.
It's a fun iteration, with lots of gags but a vast awareness of the source material, and it deserves a high placing.
