5. Michael Emerson - Batman: The Dark Knight Returns (2013)
Michael Emerson's Joker is another rather divisive interpretation of the character, with a more shrill, calm voice that fits the darker, more grounded tone of the source material.
A great thing about Emerson's voice is that it betrays The Joker's violent, villainous intent, making the character feel even creepier.
It's not going to be for everyone, but if you're open-minded enough to consider out-there performances, it's definitely one of the better ones.
It certainly helps, of course, that the movie is pushing right up against the PG-13 rating with its deeply disturbing content (particularly when The Joker gasses an entire TV studio to death).
