Ranking August 2017's Movies From Worst To Best

RottenTomatoes Score: 91% (7.0/10)

Box Office: No financial information is yet available, as the Tom Cruise-starring crime comedy has only just begun its international roll-out.

Verdict: Tom Cruise and Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman team together once again, this time for a deliciously entertaining stranger-than-fiction true story.

While in many respects the movie feels like a fairly familiar zany thriller-comedy, Cruise is so magnetically charming in the central role that it's hard to care all that much, and Liman's handheld, on-the-ground cinematography adds an extra layer of immersion.

Plus, the true story is so mind-bogglingly insane that there's nary a moment to get bored. Perhaps not the big awards player some were expecting, but an undeniably entertaining romp all the same.
