Ranking Every Batman Movie From Worst To Best

3. Batman Begins

Who would have though the dude from American Psycho could handle the heavy cape that belongs to one of the greatest comic book characters of all time? But handle it he did, thanks in no small part to a supporting cast that would help him shoulder the tremendous load of this remake. Not only did Christopher Nolan have the good fortune of casting Rha's Al Ghul before Hollywood had turned Liam Neeson into an unlikely, elderly action star, but he came to the table with a roster of supporting villains that would perfectly set the tone for what this new Gotham would look like: dark, realistic, and devoid of bald, glittery, innuendo factories. (Sorry, last Mr. Freeze reference. I promise.) But the most impressive criminal in Batman Begins is the young, still relatively unknown Cillian Murphy playing the part of psycho psychiatrist Dr. Jonathan Crane, aka Scarecrow. Murphy is the first true exemplification of how dark and cerebral Christopher Nolan's version of The Dark Knight was going to be. It's unfortunate that Murphy's Scarecrow was so quickly forgotten due to a breakout performance by a certain somebody in the next installment of Nolan's trilogy.
