Ranking Every DC Original Animated Movie Worst To Best

2. Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (2013)

Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox
Warner Bros.

What happens when The Flash is able to turn back the clock and save his mother from her murderous fate? A whole lot of dystopian world-bending madness. Not to mention, a cracking good JLA yarn.

Like all great alternative universe tales, the fun comes from flipping what we know on its head; in this reality Wonder Woman is a ruthless killer, Superman an anorexic wuss and Batman a gun-toting, hilariously deadpan alcoholic. Also points for making Aquaman a frightening bad-ass and the blood-thirsty villain of the piece, a clear signifier that within this world anything can happen and no one is safe.

The production value on display is stunning, playing like an epic blockbuster with grand orchestrated battles and globe-trotting scenarios. But it's not all style and no substance, there's a genuinely gripping, time-flipping tale where The Flash and his whole motivation for existing is front and centre; as he must choose the greater good over what his heart yearns.

Easily the greatest Justice League film by DC Animated and most likely the best they'll ever be in general, the live-action film certainly had a high bar to jump make over this. Zach Snyder can certainly congure spectacle but an involving story, dynamic characters and good dose of heart is what gives this movie the true edge.
