Ranking Every Disney Princess From Worst To Best
5. Belle - Beauty And The Beast
Of all the Disney Princesses, Belle is by far one of the more unique.
Rather than being a revered royal at the beginning of the film, Belle is just another townsperson who, despite her undeniable beauty, is something of a loner due to her "odd" personality. But really, she's not odd - she's just a bibliophile; an intelligent, outspoken woman who obstinately stands by her convictions, something that the people of her time were most certainly not used to.
Belle is also the first Disney Princess to reject the advances of a man, making her a trendsetter, as well.
This is definitely what makes Belle most admirable. She doesn't care how good-looking or highly-esteemed Gaston is; she cares about developing a meaningful relationship with someone, like the kinds she reads about in her books.
And eventually, she's able to do just that.
While many fans of Disney chide Belle for falling in love with her captor, her relationship with The Beast does actually have a pretty solid message to it, which is not to judge a book by its cover and to give people a chance. Granted, she may have given Beast a few too many chances, but he did save her life, so that has to be worth something.
