Ranking Every James Bond Film - From Worst To Best

9. Thunderball

Ignore the few silly parts of Thunderball (that back massage contraption Bond somehow gets himself stuck in) and you have a Bond film chock-full of iconography: the shark-infested pool, the electric chair at a Spectre meeting, the jetpack, Tom Jones' massive theme song and, best of all, a superbly choreographed underwater fight scene between Bond and a seemingly endless number of scuba-clad henchman, the film's high point and one of the franchise's, too. Add to that a motorcycle riding Bond girl named Domino (Claudine Auger), and some striking panoramic vistas, and you have a top-rank Bond film, billed at the time as "the biggest Bond of all!". Thunderball might've dated a bit (the opening fight scene is particularly choppy), but it remains a fine early entry in the franchise, one unsullied by the attempted Sean Connery-starring remake, Never Say Never Again, an "un-official" Bond film not featured on this list for obvious reasons.
