Ranking EVERY James Bond Henchman From Worst To Best

49. Gettler (Casino Royale, 2006)

Tee Hee James Bond
MGM

This one-eyed Quantum operative is introduced as a late substitute after the main antagonist, Le Chiffre, receives a shock early exit. He doesn't get much in the way of screentime, but Gettler does just enough to pass the eye test as a reasonably menacing foe.

Continuing the film's mini-trend of villains with ocular oddities, Gettler is the main contact sent to meet the duplicitous Vesper and collect a cool $115 million - previously won by James Bond in the film's iconic high-stakes poker sequence.

After Gettler spies (with his little eye) 007 in stealthy pursuit, however, things get violent. It somehow culminates with an entire building sinking into Venice's Grand Canal, while Bond and baddies desperately battle for the grandest of prizes - Vesper's life.

Of course, the dead-eyed deadeye ends up dead after being shot in the eye. Naturally, Bond went for the difficult shot - and with a nailgun, no less.

Fun fact - Gettler was theorised by some to be the supposedly-deceased Le Chiffre in disguise; though the only real similarity between the two is that neither of them are likely to win a "Best Pair of Eyes" award anytime soon.

Chest thumping James Bond and Haruki Murakami fanatic living in China. Once had a fever dream about riding a rowboat with Davos Seaworth. He hasn't updated this section since Game of Thrones was cool, and boy does it show.
