Ranking EVERY James Bond Henchman From Worst To Best

47. Truman-Lodge (Licence To Kill, 1989)

Tee Hee James Bond
MGM/UA

This insufferable, penny-pinching whiner is surprisingly hard to forget, keeping a constant eye on the financial side of Franz Sanchez’s business dealings.

Truman-Lodge spends so much time and effort weighing up the long-term economics behind each and every transaction Sanchez is involved in, in fact, that it gives him a stronger spine than you'd think is safe.

For starters, he's so scandalised by the idea of an expensive drug lab setup being abandoned, he sees fit to question Sanchez about it. That earns him a tongue-lashing which should, to all reasonable folk, serve as a stark warning. Not Truman-Lodge however.

When Sanchez's cocaine tankers are later destroyed during the film's climactic chase, Truman-Lodge flies into a rage at the apparent loss of profits.

"Well done, Franz!" Truman-Lodge sarcastically jeers. "Another $80 million write-off!"

20 tonnes of primo cocaine going up in smoke is money down the drain, no doubt - but the best time to chide your violent drug king overlord about it probably isn't immediately after the fact. It's probably wisest not to do it at all, for that matter.

But that's Truman-Lodge for you; he has more greed than sense. As much for his insolent scoldings than anything else, Sanchez blows him away with an Uzi as easily as swatting a fly.

Chest thumping James Bond and Haruki Murakami fanatic living in China. Once had a fever dream about riding a rowboat with Davos Seaworth. He hasn't updated this section since Game of Thrones was cool, and boy does it show.
