Ranking: Every Tim Burton Movie From Worst To Best
1. Edward Scissorhands (1990)
Burton's one indisputable masterpiece is a beautiful gothic fairytale featuring arguably Johnny Depp's best (and certainly his most endearing) performance, while Dianne Wiest is typically excellent and Winona Ryder is absolutely luminous throughout.
This is the very best of Burton's stylistic instincts, managing to meld his signature visuals with an incredibly emotional narrative as well as some brilliant satire of suburban middle America and the doomed nature of the "tortured artist".
Best Moment: It's incredibly difficult to pick just one scene, but we'll go with the unforgettable one in which Edward carves an angelic ice sculpture as Winona Ryder's Kim dances in the ice shavings set to Danny Elfman's spine-tingling score. Movie magic at its finest.
