Ranking February 2019's Movies From Worst To Best

6. Green Book

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 79% (7.28/10)

Box Office: Propelled by sizzling Oscar buzz, the eventual Best Picture winner has grossed almost $150 million against a mere $23 million budget. Considering it had a fairly rough start as it expanded into wide release in the U.S., its leggy performance is incredibly impressive.

Verdict: Critics really went easy on this one, huh? It wouldn't be fair to call Green Book bad, because as trite and pandering as it is to middle-of-the-road white people, the performances by Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen are very solid (given the material they're working with).

All the same, it won the Best Picture Oscar, with critics largely praising it for its broad approach to historic racism, its central odd-couple pairing, and its crowd-pleasing appeal.

Still, it's tough to imagine this one ageing particularly well in the years to come, especially as a Best Picture winner.
