Ranking February 2019's Movies From Worst To Best

7. Paddleton

Rotten Tomatoes Score: 90% (7.24/10)

Box Office: Direct to Netflix.

Verdict: An ultra low-key drama revolving around a terminally ill man (Mark Duplass) planning his own death with his pal (Ray Romano), Paddleton is a dignified and gently funny "cancer movie" with a difference.

Unflinchingly honest in its depiction of a person deciding how to end their time on Earth yet refusing to get bogged down in misery porn for its own sake, this is a wonderfully affecting addition to Netflix's growing slate of acclaimed indie festival faves.

Mark Duplass gives a terrifically understated performance as usual, but it's Ray Romano who steals the movie with his deeply compassionate and empathetic turn as a man simply trying to do the right thing for his friend.
