RottenTomatoes Score: The movie wasn't screened for critics, which says it all, really. At the time of press, it has three negative reviews and no positive ones, and expect more bad write-ups to pile on over the weekend as critics spend their own money to watch it (or don't). Box Office: In international releases, the movie grossed just $852,000 against a $14 million budget, and despite opening on roughly 1800 screens in the US this weekend, it's tracking by most accounts to pull in around $4-5 million for the weekend. A bust, then. The few who have been able to see it so far have dismissed The Loft as a sub-Hitchcockian knock-off, which while serving up constant surprises and blessed with a great cast including Karl Urban, James Marsden, Wentworth Miller and Matthias Schoenaerts, can't bring itself to rise above a level of sleaze bordering on misogynistic. After all, why else would a studio not bother screening a movie to the press? To preserve the precious plot twists? Please...
