Ranking November 2016's Movies - From Worst To Best
16. American Pastoral
RottenTomatoes Score: 19% (4.7/10)
Box Office: Having made just $1.48 million worldwide, it's safe to say this one's going nowhere.
Verdict: Even though Ewan McGregor's directorial debut is basically a failure, you can't go too hard on the guy considering he had the cojones to adapt Philip Roth's "unfilmable" Pulitzer Prize-winning 1997 novel as his first film behind the camera.
Despite a stacked cast including McGregor himself, Jennifer Connelly, Dakota Fanning, David Strathairn and Molly Parker, McGregor basically makes a meal out of Roth's novel as most surely expected, failing to evoke the mood of the source material nor managing to sustain a consistently intriguing pace.
One of the year's more interesting failures for sure, but not a good film.
