Ranking September 2017's Movies From Worst To Best

3. Gerald's Game

Gerald S Game Carla Gugino Bruce Greenwood
Netflix

RottenTomatoes Score: 89% (7.6/10)

Box Office: It went straight-to-Netflix, so nothing to see here.

Verdict: It's been a damn good month for Stephen King movies, it seems, with his controversial 1992 suspense thriller novel getting a deliciously sordid adaptation from on-the-rise director Mike Flanagan (Oculus, Hush).

Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood give terrific performances as the central couple, while Flanagan makes the most of the confined location, milking it for maximum suspense.

It's far from a pleasant sit, with one especially unforgettable moment, and the ending isn't as satisfying as everything that precedes it, but for the most part this is a terrifically entertaining attempt to bring an "unfilmable" novel to the small screen.
