Ranking The Best Characters From Snatch - 20 Years Later
1. Brick Top
Who: in the man's own words, a righteous infliction of retribution manifested by an appropriate agent.
What he knows about diamonds: that they're a form of payment, much like any other. He's somewhat more interested, however, in a different question entirely: "Do you know what nemesis means?". And thanks to the despicable Brick Top, we do now.
In fact, the notorious pig-feeding crime lord is the nemesis of all. Brick Top is the big bad wolf chasing down many of the main players, from Turkish and Tommy to Vinny, Sol and Tyrone and even to Mickey O'Neil. He also delivers swear words with as much venom as you'll ever hear in film.
In a more ruthless evolution from Hatchet Harry, the main antagonist of Ritchie's prior film Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Brick Top is not interested in what others know - he's interested in what he wants, and he'll do whatever it takes to get it.
If that means having his gang of thugs smash up a place of business, he'll do it. If it means threatening men with being devoured by ravenous pigs, he'll do it and then feed the pigs regardless. If it means burning a caravan with innocent mothers sleeping inside just to persuade a boxer to be more compliant, he'll do it while laughing at how very 'orrible he is.
Snatch's best character is also its worst.
