Ranking The Bourne Movie Franchise From Worst To Best

3. Jason Bourne

Long in gestation sequels should never work, but Jason Bourne is clearly not one for that agenda. And after nine years away from the role, Matt Damon returned with a typical bang, dialling down the dialogue but not the mystique to offer the perfect antidote to the wordier, over-explanation of Legacy.

Despite having a mere 25 lines, Damon owns the film, and combined with Paul Greengrass' expert directing eye, he forms the central point of some truly stunning action sequences.

Critics were far from universally delighted, but asking for too much from a movie this deftly wound up on action is ludicrous. Plus, the film is aimed very squarely - and very successfully - at rubbing out the errors of Legacy, and delivering on thrills so well that you can completely ignore the cliches.
