Ranking The Coen Brothers Movies From Worst To Best

12. Miller’s Crossing

No Country For Old Men
20th Century Fox

A very Coen Gangster flick, Miller’s Crossing follows the story of the right hand man of an Irish mob boss who gets caught in the middle of an ugly situation. A suspenseful and well engineered story with heavy influences from both Gangster films and Noir pictures, Miller’s Crossing is another example of the Coen’s mastering every genre they try their hand at.

The film is a more modern telling of one of these tales from the annals of American cinema and does an excellent job of allowing itself to be more engaging for a new audience. The performances are exceptional across the board as well, with John Turtorro a particular stand-out (his pleading in the woods scene is among the finest moments the Coens have ever conjured for the screen).

A clever and intense thrill ride of a film with excellently poetic dialogue throughout, Miller’s Crossing is a fantastic foray for the Coen’s into Americas much loved Gangster obsessed past and well worthy of anyones attention who has not had the pleasure yet.
