Re-writes for Doug Liman/Jake Gyllenhaal's untitled MOON epic!

The Hollywood Reporter say Ken Nolan (BLACK HAWK DAWN, the in-development hell remake of ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK) has been brought on to re-draft Doug Liman's untitled Moon epic at Paramount. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, the movie is a big budget action film about lunar colonization and by all accounts will be more Summer blockbuster fare (ARMAGEDDON, DEEP IMPACT) than serious sci-fi deconstruction (Sam Rockwell's MOON, 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY). Nolan will re-draft from John Hamburg's (I LOVE YOU MAN) original screenplay which was then ironically re-drafted by BLACK HAWK DAWN author Mark Bowden who then passed it on to Dan Mazeau who did a page 1 re-write from a story by Liman. Which is now being re-drafted again by Nolan. Hardly a positive sign for the quality of the screenplay, though of course that didn't stop Liman directing the lackluster JUMPER. I'm more than happy to bide my time here to avoid another film like that.
