Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City: 4 Ups & 6 Downs

2. Not. Enough. Zombies.

One of the film's strangest decisions is the peculiar absence of zombies throughout.

The first half of the movie in particular features barely any of the undead at all, and even when they do show up, there's little sense of their overpowering numbers that make the games so stressful and atmospheric.

They feel like an afterthought in their own game, really, and even when the heroes do take them on, there's rarely that feeling that the zombies are an overwhelming physical threat - unless it's a minor, disposable character being attacked, of course.

Paul W.S. Anderson's original Resident Evil did a much, much better job of building even basic zombies up as seriously dangerous, yet here they barely register at all.
