Richard Griffiths: 5 Greatest Ever Movie Moments

1. Sleepy Hollow

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31Q9JbHAzjA This is probably in terrible taste, but this is what I always think of first whenever I see Griffiths in anything. Second is Harry Potter, but first is Christopher Walken chopping his head off, and the decapitated head rolling between Johnny Depps' legs. It's just too ridiculous and cheesy that it fails to be remotely scary, and ends up as delightfully hilarious. Sleepy Hollow is a film that manages to walk the thin line between horror and comedy without really trying. If you were reluctant about fully enjoying the cheese of this movie, this scene pats you on the back, and gets you ready for a fun little ride. Griffiths plays a Magistrate in the film, a relatively small role, like many of his roles. And, like most of his roles, the key to its success is just enough exposure where you want to see more, but enough to give Griffiths time to fully immerse you in his character. For a character actor like Griffiths, all he'd need were two or three scenes, some good writing, and maybe a decapitation to sell you on his performance. As an actor, Griffiths played roles in countless films. It's hard to list them all, but in each role he brought a zeal that could never be replicated by any other actor. He was one of those actors who would appear in so many films, and, as mentioned before, you'd just crack a smile seeing him on screen. He will be missed. If you can think of any other moments in Griffiths' filmography that made you smile, laugh, chuckle, or just in general entertain, share your memories in the comments section below.

An aspiring writer, I am an avid fan of everything nerdy. Movies, televisions, games, comics, literature. Anything, I'm interested. Though my real passion is writing. Maybe one day I'll be a published author with books everywhere. Who knows...?
