Richard Jenkins Enters Talks For COGAN'S TRADE

Variety says Richard Jenkins is in talks for Cogan's Trade, the terrifically exciting caper comedy that reunites Andrew Dominik, director of The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford, with the main players of that A* star movie - Brad Pitt, Casey Affleck, Sam Rockwell and of course, composer Nick Cave. Jenkins joins a stunning ensemble that also includes James Gandolfini and Bella Heathcote, the latter who just nabbed the leading role in Tim Burton's next feature Dark Shadows. We've also heard of Dominik's desire to cast Mark Ruffalo and Bill Murray (though I wonder if Jenkins has taken Murray's role?). Filming on Cogan€™s Trade begins in a few weeks in New Orleans, Louisiana (a change from the Boston setting from the novel), with Brad Pitt leading as Jackie Cogan, an enforcer investigating the robbery of a high stakes poker game protected by the mob. The film is an ensemble movie, adapted from the pulp novel by George V. Higgins (seemingly impossible to buy brand new on Amazon) and is said to be a slightly more serious version of Ocean€™s Eleven. Jenkins plays a lawyer who relays inside information about the card game, Gandolfini is a washed up alcoholic hit man who is brought in on the job. The Weinsteins plan to release Cogan's Trade in the first quarter of next year. The Dark Knight Rises aside, I'm not sure there is a project in development that I'm looking forward to more than this.
