Riddick 4 CONFIRMED, Whether You Like It Or Not

Could Vin Diesel's THIRD sequel be the first good one?

Considering how tightly Hollywood controls what gets made and what doesn't based on marketability and potential earnings, it's often pretty remarkable what sort of sequel projects get greenlit.

For instance, we're apparently getting a Django Unchained/Zorro crossover event movie from the mind of Quentin Tarantino, an R-Rated Star Trek from the mind of Quentin Tarantino and The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard from the mind of... well not Quentin Tarantino, but it would probably be better if it was.

More strange than all of those put together is the willingness Hollywood seems to have to entertain the desires of Fast & Furious stalwart Vin Diesel, who is a marketing behemoth for that franchise, but who can't really say the same for his other "big" roles. And yet, despite both XXX and Riddick crashing into irrelevance, we're probably getting sequels to both.

The latter of those franchises took another stride forward as Diesel has revealed on his Instagram account that there is a script for Riddick 4: Furya and that his character- who hasn't been any good since Pitch Black - will presumably be headlining it...

So far, we've had two inferior sequels that hardly pulled up any trees at the box office, but Vin Diesel clearly recognises something in his horror/sci-fi character that the audiences who turned off him don't and he's pushing on regardless.

Presumably, the title means Riddick is heading back to his homeworld, Furya, which would fit with comments he made in 2015 suggesting the fourth movie would be an origin story.

Will it actually make it to the big screen? Who knows, but you can be damn sure Diesel is going to do whatever he can to make it happen.
