Ridley Scott: Ranking His Films From Worst To Best

20. Robin Hood

Wasn't this film much more interesting when it originally planned to have Russell Crowe playing both Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham? Instead the end result is a surprisingly boring retelling of the iconic hero's story...with dodgy accents. The cast is great and there are moments of undeniable stylistic flair (namely the battle scenes), but given how it was marketed as an action-packed war film, it's surprising how little action there is, and how generic most of it ends up. You won't remember the plot mere days after watching it, it's at least half an hour too long, and Crowe gives a rare bad performance in the title role. The only actor who really does anything interesting is Oscar Isaac, who gives a memorable portrayal of legendary a**hole King John. What a disappointment this was.
