Ridley Scott's The Martian Has The Best Teaser You'll See All Year

Except maybe Star Wars.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=190&v=CumZP6_9sHU Ridley Scott's recent films haven't got the best reception, but there's one area where everyone can agree he's at the top of the back - the viral marketing. Prometheus boasted some great in-universe videos (including a great Ted talk featuring a young Weyland that just about excuses Guy Pearce's casting as an old man) that got people even more stoked than the Alien-invoking trailers, and now we've got a similarly-aimed first look at his next sci-fi, The Martian. Featuring Matt Damon's Mark Watney giving a tour of Ares 3 and introducing her crew ahead of their trip to Mars, it's a star-studded tease featuring Jessica Chastain, Michael Peña and Kate Mara (among others) that sets the scene without giving anything beyond the synopsis away. There's a lot to pour over here (the little crew facts that pop up provide a bit more background on what their role entails), so check it out for yourselves above. As this is arriving before the first proper trailer, here's hoping this is actually the start of a rather involved viral campaign. And, if it is, fingers crossed that subsequent videos give a glimpse of the characters played by (deep breath) Kristen Wiig, Sean Bean, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Donald Glover, Jeff Daniels and Sebastian Stan. Yeah, this movie sounds pretty awesome. The Martian is out on 25th November in the US and 27th November in the UK.
