Robert Rodriguez to helm SHORTS

I can't wait until the day when Robert Rodriguez's kids have grown into full adults, maybe then - just maybe - he will stop making these crappy kids movies. That's not to say I or anyone else should be ruling his filmography and I wouldn't mind it at all if he was actually good at helming kids movies but the simple fact is he isn't. Kids movies don't suit him.

Variety report today that his next movie will be SHORTS, a kids comedy that will star (in the order they list) Jon Cryer, William H. Macy, Leslie Mann, James Spader, Jimmy Bennett, Kat Dennings and Devon Gearhart.
"Shorts" is set in a suburb where all the houses look the same and everyone works for Black Box, manufacturer of the ultimate communication and do-it-all gadget. Chaos follows when an 11-year-old boy is hit in the head with a rainbow-colored rock that grants wishes to anyone who holds it. Rodriguez is serving as his own director of photography, editor and visual effects supervisor.
So it's the director we have seen from Spy Kids and The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl rather than the director of Sin City and Planet Terror. Shame... but then again was anyone really looking forward to seeing Barbarella except for seeing Rose McGowan nude? We are kinda waiting for him to work on another Sin City and anything else will look minor in comparison.
