Robin Hood Review: 2 Ups & 7 Downs

3. The Hilariously Bad CGI

Robin Hood CGI
Lionsgate

You'd probably never guess this movie cost a reported $99 million to produce, considering how absolutely shambolic the quality of the visual effects are for the most part.

Though some of the distant digital locations look passable enough, almost every CGI element during an action sequence looks laughably cheap and garish.

The most notably awful sequence in the entire film is a third-act horse chase, where almost every single shot features actors horribly green-screened into a background that wouldn't pass muster in the early days of the PS3.

Combined with the fetishistic use of slow-motion, the bad effects horribly date the movie from the outset, and if you didn't know better, you could easily believe this thing had been dumped in cinemas about a decade ago.
