Ruffalo joins Blindness

262397mark-ruffalo-posters.jpgMark Ruffalo stole the show in Zodiac in what was easily the best performance of his career. Over the next 18 months he has big roles in "this year's Crash" Reseveration Road, the cool sounding Brothers Bloom and the news today is that he will star in Fernando Meirelles next film Blindness. I believe this is the role that Daniel Craig pulled out of last month.
Ruffalo will play a doctor who loses his sight along with everyone else in town, except the doc's wife. Don McKellar wrote the script, and Meirelles' 02 Filmes will produce. Meirelles most recently directed "The Constant Gardener" and "City of God."
Ruffalo will star alongside the already cast Julianne Moore with filming set to begin this summer in Brazil. Ruffalo and Craig certainly have different styles of acting, so Ruffalo's take on the character will no doubt be different. When Craig dropped out I thought Meirelles might have gone for Eric Bana or Ralph Fiennes again or another British actor. Ruffalo is a fine actor though, and the surprising decision comes very welcome for my end. source - variety
