Russell Brand is The Hauntrepreneur

Brand would play the title character in Paramount's new haunted house family comedy that has a few echoes to Beetlejuice.

Russell Brand will star in family comedy The Hauntrepreneur, a new Paramount and Platinum Dunes production. Variety says the movie revolves around a struggling to adjust family after moving a new town who hire a Hauntrepreneur, a unique showman who creates a haunted house full of spooky goings on and peculiar characters to bring the family closer together. Brand would play the title character with Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller producing for Platinum. Paramount picked up the original spec screenplay from Scott Rosenberg (Con Air, Gone in Sixty Seconds) back in October (he was smart to pitch it at Halloween!) and the hunt is on for a director. Platinum Dunes haven't made a movie since the remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street two years ago and this latest pick-up encouragingly hints towards original productions for them. Though then again they are still trying to get a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie off the ground too.
