Russell Crowe: 5 Awesome Performances & 5 That Sucked
1. John Nash - A Beautiful Mind
It probably annoyed Russell Crowe no end when A Beautiful Mind snagged Best Picture, but failed to get him Best Actor - unlike fellow greatest actor contender Tom Hanks hed not managed to do the double.
Although he shouldnt have got too upset, because his performance as Josh Nash is some of his finest, eye-opening work. I am - or rather was, now I shout about movies on the internet - a mathematician and Nash popped up a fair bit, but no amount of knowing his theory can help you know the man.
A paranoid schizophrenic, Nash here is a genuine normal guy whos unable to find true normality. In fact, A Beautiful Mind feels at points more like a thriller than a straight biopic, with shades of espionage and a heartbreaking psychological element, but Crowe grounds all this in the tragic illness of one man.
