Russell Crowe Might Be RoboCop?

Franchise reboot shoots this summer, at the same time Aronofsky's Noah's Ark movie which Crowe is likewise being courted for.

In response to the news that Russell Crowe is director Darren Aronofsky's number one choice to play Noah in his biblical re-imagining that will shoot this summer comes a tidbit from Variety of another tentpole he is being potentially courted for. Reporter Jeff Sneider tweeted soon after the Noah story broke;
"Sure, Russell Crowe, MIGHT star in Aronofsky's NOAH... but do you know what else he MIGHT star in? Three words: Ro. Bo. Cop. #FloatThisBoat"
And at this point, that is all we have to go on. A vague 'might' story, but one that we should report on nevertheless as there appears to be movement on the long in development RoboCop reboot at MGM. We heard this week that Gran Torino scribe Nick Schenk is currently rewriting the script which Elite Squad director Jose Padilha hopes to direct this summer. A RoboCop vs Noah fight over Crowe could soon be on the cards and not two more opposing projects could you find in development right now. Would Russell Crowe make a good lead for RoboCop? Well personally I would be looking more at Chris Pine (though he has racked up a few franchises by now hasn't he?) or Michael Fassbender, two younger stars who we know the studio have looked at. For me, Pine seems a good fit for this one but studios being studios, they are always tempted when A-listers come along. Although Crowe's last blockbuster Robin Hood didn't set the world on fire and he is turning 48 years old this year, he still believes he has some franchise years left in his tank and presumably so do MGM. Expect a few more names to be shortlisted soon...
