Sacha Baron Cohen: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked
4. BBC News Anchor - Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues (2013)
Following Baron Cohens tried and tested format of everything being funnier when theres a moustache involved, at least Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues put him in good company. Will Ferrells anarchic second turn as Ron Burgundy (and final installment of the Average American Man Trilogy) split critical opinion as a louder, brasher and less coherent film than its predecessor. However, despite its shortcomings there were plenty of laughs to be had from the improvisational antics of its stellar comedy cast. When inviting someone to cameo as a rival news reporter from the UK, its easy to see why they turned to Baron Cohen. His calibre as a comedian is undisputed, always playing larger than life characters that grab audiences attention by any means necessary. For some reason however, his performance as a BBC anchor proved to be even more underwhelming than Drakes appearance in the opening scene as ass admirer with Afro. Opting for tiresome Received Pronunciation and every British stereotype you can fit into a sentence, Baron Cohen looks as though he has been forced onscreen as part of a lost bet. His contribution begins and ends with criminally unfunny mentions of Margaret Thatcher and the Queen. In all honesty, its depressing to see one of the UKs premier comedy talents get upstaged by Kanye West.
