Sad news.... Jack Palance has passed on

So I've just finished watching the last movie in my Bond marathon (i've managed to cram in all 20 in the last month in the run up to the release of Casino Royale) and I'm about to check my e-mails before I go to bed when I come across some really sad news.

Jack Palance has died aged 87. The legendary actor best known for his roles in City Slickers (where he won an Oscar) and as the cold blooded gunslinger in Shane was truly one of a kind with his uniquely chiseled face and commanding voice. His career lasted 50 years, starring in a wide range of genres from westerns, to horrors to comedys and a certain superhero hero flick in 1989. Yes this is how he will be remembered by me and anyone from my generation.... as the crime lord Carl Grissom in Batman. I've seen his performance countless number of times in that movie, he had such an aura of authority in his few scenes. Even when I was young, like really young, I could tell there was something special about the guy and that he was a "proper actor" shall we say. For me, he will always be "the number one guy!" of The Joker.
