Schreiber is not Stryker, he's Victor Creed?

Just when you thought those dummies involved with the production of the Wolverine prequel had done something right, this kind of news leaks. CHUD carry the rumor from a 100% trusted source that Liev Schreiber has not been cast as Stryker in the shitty titled X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE as previously thought but instead it will indeed be t.v. actor Michael C. Hall (Dexter, Six Feet Under) who will be playing Logan's arch nemesis.

Brian Cox

Here's the thing though, Schreiber is still on board... it's just he will be playing the Victor Creed (a.k.a. Sabertooth) role. What the hell is that all about? A respected and proper actor playing the muscle man part that a wrestler portrayed in the original X-MEN movie?

Victor Creed

Schreiber is quite tall and psychically impressive I guess but Sabertooth is suppose to be a frikkin' beast of a man, only existing because he can go toe-to-toe with Wolverine for so great visual epic battles. He's not a character with depth, shall we say. Hopefully with the dramatic helmer Gavin Hood (RENDITION, TSOTSI) on board, his take on the Victor Creed character is more cerebral and a more intelligent depiction of the character than before otherwise this is one massive mis-casting. CHUD have also heard that Michelle Monaghan (MISSION IMPOSSIBLE III) tops the list of actresses' that Fox have on their wanted list for the role of Silverfox. Previously he heard that Maggie Q had been offered the role.

Silver Fox

Michael C. Hall as Stryker is as interesting to me as Julian McMahon as Doctor Doom, Schreiber is a personal favourite of mine but as Creed (WTF!) and Michelle Monaghan is a great actress who's had a nice run of performances recently but this role is not suited to her and if anything it's beneath her talents. More madness from a franchise which seems to have completely lost it's direction. The prequel is set to open May 19th 2009, with Hugh Jackman returning to the lead role.
