SDDC: Mark Ruffalo HULK-deal close, could be at THE AVENGERS panel today?
Frantic negotiations under-way that would allow Ruffalo to appear at today's Marvel Comic Con panel.
It has been written in stone, or so to speak. Deadline is reporting that 'the ink is dry' on Mark Ruffalo's deal at Marvel Studio's to join The Avengers. However, The Wrap weren't quite as confident, claiming that some issues still needed ironing out but that frantic arrangements had been put into place yesterday to complete negotiations. Marvel are said to be banking on an agreement being reached that would allow the new Bruce Banner to catch the Friday night red-eye in time for Saturday's highly anticipated Marvel Comic Con panel. The sticking point in yesterday's deal was said to be money (Marvel are tight-asses these days) and length of contract (Marvel want him for as many as six movies). Still, most expect Ruffalo to be at today's panel, presented alongside Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury). If he's not there, you can guess there's still issues that need ironing out before you can officially declare him part of the upcoming superhero extravaganza. Personally, I was vouching for Adrian Brody [recently linked with the Ant-Man role] to play the "puny doctor who turns into monstrous green giant when agitated", but I'm a big fan of Mark Ruffalo's work and this is a good call on Marvel's side. Ruffalo is capable of bringing a lot of emotion, realism, and drama to the plate. So now we know The Hulk isn't being left out of The Avengers, and if we follow on from the events of The Incredible Hulk we've gathered that he's somewhat capable of controlling his "adrenaline surges". Where does that leave us in The Avengers? Will The Hulk aid the band of saviors, or will he be a rogue beast out to cause mass chaos? Marvel still have Captain America, Thor, and potentially Ant-Man hurdles to pass through first, so lets keep those Avengers expectations in check, shall we?
