They are led there by a young monk named Osmond (Eddie Redmayne) who is trying to help them track down a necromancer who can bring people back from the dead. The film revolves around the idea of faith and belief and because Ulric will not renounce his, he is killed in a pretty brutal manner. He is tied to two horses, both which run off in opposite directions which rip him apart.
