Film: The Island How he died: Hung by chains and shot through the neck Michael Bay's sci-fi thriller The Island regards the Earth as being unliveable because of its contamination. A group of people live in an isolated compound where there are regular lotteries held which allow the winners to live on an island that has not been contaminated. However the lottery is a lot more sinister than it appears as the winner's organs are harvested and it is a charade for getting people to leave the compound. Merrick is the one in charge of cloning facility residents who remain ignorant about the real word and do not have the thought process to question anything about this mini government or their environment. Merrick is found out and he is killed by the two people who made the discovery. They strangle him and then hang him from chains, he is also shot through the neck with a gripping hook.
