Shang-Chi: 21 WTF Moments

16. Katy Says "Vagina" Twice (Kinda)

Though you can get away with a hell of a lot in PG-13 movies these days, MCU fare has always played it pretty safe in terms of colourful, boundary-testing content which might offend families.

And so, we've heard desperately little in the way of blue language throughout the franchise, though courtesy of Katy we did hear our first utterance of "vagina" in the MCU - and kinda our second, too.

During the aforementioned bus scene, Katy says of the young woman writing her research paper, "That is exactly the daughter my mom wishes came out of her vagina," and then while mocking Shang-Chi about his name change says it's like someone called Gina changing their name to "Gina" (pronounced like va-gina).

Obviously there's nothing inherently vulgar or offensive about the female anatomy - though some pearl-clutchers might care to disagree - yet it's still surprising to hear it mentioned in an MCU movie of all things.

Then again, perhaps Black Widow ushered in a new, open-minded era with its unexpectedly matter-of-fact discussion about involuntary hysterectomies.
